History

The company was founded in 1979, as Market Analysis Ltd.

Rapid business growth came from high technical standards and skilled staff, coupled with business innovations such as:

  • Multi-client projects in agriculture (1980) and the catering trade (1981)
  • Pioneering work in large-scale telephone surveys in 1984 onwards resulted in early 90’s to the installation of large scale CATI facilities
  • The first retail panel in the technology markets (1988), initially covering CTV’s and VCR’s, but now expanded to 65 product categories
  • The ‘On-Premise Tracking’ audit covering retail HO.RE.CA and wholesale outlets (1989)
  • - and many others.

 

In 1999 Market Analysis was acquired by GfK Nurnburg, one of the world’s largest and most successful market research groups.

In 2007 GfK Market Analysis itself acquired another leading local research company, Edge Research and Consultancy, and the combined operation was renamed GfK Hellas.

Today, GfK Hellas has a turnover approaching Euro 10 million, nearly 90 full-time staff, and is one of the strongest leaders in Greek market research.

The GfK group worldwide, to which we belong, now operates through 115  companies in 114 countries around the globe.  With over Euro 1,2 billion turnover it ranks No.4 internationally.
